BOMB SERVICE TO REMEMBER 1972 OLYMPICS MASSACRE
Bomb service to remember 1972 Olympics massacre
ELEVEN members of the Isreali team massacred during the Munich Olympic Games in 1972 will be remembered at the 14th anniversary memorial service for victims of the Omagh bomb on Sunday week.
Families of the Omagh bomb victims will host this year's annual service of remembrance in the Memorial Garden on Sunday August 12 at 3pm. Victims of the Bloody Friday bombings 40 years ago will also be remembered.
The 14th annual service organised by the Omagh Support and Self Help Group will be an inter-dominational service of music, verse and prayer.
Following the success of previous personal services this year's event is designed to provide comfort to the bereaved, injured and traumatised families while being uplifting in nature.
A spokesperson for the groups said, "We are delighted to have a representative from the British Government attending the service this year. As always we will be expressing our sympathies with the many victims of terrorist related atrocities throughout the world. As well as remembering the victims of the troubles in Ireland, this year we will be making special mention of the 40th anniversary of Bloody Friday. Also, in this the year of the Olympics, we will be remembering the 11 Israeli team members massacred at the 1972 Munich Games.
"We invite and welcome everyone to come along and join us on the 12th August to remember and honour all those who died and those who are still suffering."
