OMAGH BOMB PLAY TAKES TO THE STAGE AT EDINBURUGH FRINGE
Omagh bomb play takes to the stage at Edinburgh Fringe

As Omagh paused this week to mark the 13th anniversary of the August 1998 bomb atrocity, a new stage play exploring the tragedy has gone on show as part of the Edinhiirgh Fringe Festival
Written by emerging Irish playwnght, RossDungan, 'Minute After Midday' relives the impact of the bomb through three intercutting monologues.
Set three years after the 500lb bomb ripped through Market Street, killing 29 people, including two unborn twins, the play features three fictional characters reliving their experiences of the fateful day The stage play opens as the characters innocently enjoying their Saturday afternoon like any other. Elizabeth Cosgrave stares at a denim jacket through a show window from the street outside, while Conor McKeating looks on as his brother frantically sprints down Market Street hack to their car. Meanwhile Mari Jennings waits at home for her husband who she believes to be at a GAA game across town.
While each character experiences the bomb from a different perspective. their individual stories weave together through the loss and aftermath of the tragedy that continues to impact their lives.
Nominated for the Irish National Radio Drama Awards and for Best New Writing at the 2011 ISDA Awards, the memorable play from 15th Oak Productions, is directed by Emily Reilly. a Trinity College Dublin graduate who has toured with a production of Steven Berkoff's play East. Fellow Trinity graduate Ross Dungan who penned the play has written a number of plays which have gone on show in Dublin
He currently works as a writer on RTE.'s Dublin set soap. Fair City. Featuring as one of the hundreds of shows that make up the largest international arts festival in the world, Minute After Midday has already been on show since the start of August.
The play continues on the stage of one of the festival's most renowned venues, the Gilded Balloon theatre until the end of August.
