DPP SHOCKED AND HORRIFIED AT MURDER
DPP 'shocked and horrified' at murder

OMAGH District Policing Partnership (DPP) has urged the public to continue to support the work being done by the I'SNI to make the district a safer, brighter place to live in the aftermath of the murder of Ronan Kerr which has cast a dark shadow over the town this week.
DPP chair, .Josephine Deehan said the "brutal crime*' does not have the support of the people.
She said it is with great sadness that Omagh DPP members express their sincere sympathy at the tragic murder of the much loved 25-year-old police officer.
Cllr Deehan said, "First and foremost my heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with Ronan's family, friends and colleagues at this hugely traumatic time This is a terrible tragedy for his family, for all who knew him and who served with him. He represnted the modern Police Service of Northern Ireland and was a courageous young police officer serving the community in its entirity. His death will he a great loss toall.
"This is s is indeed not the first time Omagh town has been visited by tragedy and many still carry the memories of the Omagh bomb in 1998. Residents in Omagh are completely shocked and horrified by Saturday's atrocity and are trying to come to terms with the young police officer's death." she continued.
"Omagh DPP is resolved to building a community free of violence which respects human life and dignity. We will continue to work to build community confidence in the PSNI and reiterate support for their vital work.
"As chair of the DPP I would urge the public to fully support us in so doing. I appeal to anyone who knows anything that could help the PSNI In their investigations to come forward.
"This brutal and criminal act docs not have the support of the people of Omagh. Now is the time for the community to come together to work for the common good."
The vice-chair of Omagh DPP, Eithne McAnespy. reiterated the remarks of Cllr Deehan, adding that the murder has left everyone heavy-hearted.
"We had all thought these days were behind us. I wish to offer my personal sincere condolences to Ronan's mother Nuala. his brothers Aaron and Caihair and Dairina and entire family circle and also to his colleagues in the PSNI concluded Mrs McAnespy.
