PLANS BEING FINALISED FOR THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY
Plans being finalised for the tenth anniversary
AS the poles were being put into place this week which carry the mirrors to reflect sunlight to the site of the Omagh bomb, plans are being finalised for the 10th anniversary.
Workmen are working round the clock in the memorial garden to have it ready for August 15. The 31 stainless steel poles will carry the mirrors to reflect sunlight on to the heliostat at the site of the bomb. The Garden of Light will be dedicated at the anniversary ceremony.
A large crowd is expected at the ceremony on August 15 at Drumragh Avenue adjacent to the memorial garden.
The ceremony will take place at 3pm and is expected to last 40 minutes. The ceremony will incorporate a minutes silence at 3.10pm. Businesses are being urged to close their premises to allow staff to go to the service or if this is not possible to observe a minute's silence at 3.10pm.
Because of the crowds that are expected, Drumragh Avenue car park will not be available for town centre parking on that day. It is hoped that other car parks will be available for ceremony-goers.
