Case aims to find bomb answers
HAVING attended both the Hoey trial and the subsequent verdict, it was apparent that the prosecution was turned inside out. The trial, in particular, raised grave reservations and exposed the RUC investigation regarding the outrageous handling of vital evidence. It became a trial of RUC incompetence. The so-called investigation was not only flawed but non-existent.
I have fought for near on ten years to get this case into court and get justice from all those with responsibility for the atrocity on that fateful day - August 15, 1998. Every obstacle has been put in my way and I presume this will continue.
I have my own legal proceedings in the High Court in Belfast, which is being processed by my legal team, namely Desmond Doherty and Partners.
Former RUC Chief Constable Ronnie Flanagan, senior investigating officer Eric Anderson and the Secretary of State may be summoned to appear in the case. If they do not appear freely, they will be subpoenaed.
Former Ombudsman Nuala O'Loan - a brave, fair and resolute lady - and the McVicker Report highlighted the issues. At this stage, we wonder what the prosecution (DPP) were aware of and if not, why not.
My case has been on hold since the Hoey trial. It is at an advanced stage and I am hoping for a hearing this year. I realise that the government will do everything to stop my case. Having said that, I demand the right to protection, not police expediency or amnesty.
I, my wife and family require transparency, truth and justice, and then we might have a peaceful and long-awaited rest.
