NEW OFFICES FOR SUPPORT GROUP
New offices for group - but nothing upon which to work
THE Omagh Support and Self Help Group has been in operation for the past six years and in its capacity as a self-help group it provides befriending, advocacy and support to those victims affected by the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
It came as good news then when the group recently successfully acquired funding from the Community Relations Council for rental of permanent office premises.
These new premises are located at 5, Holmview Terrace, Omagh. Unfortunately they have not been successful in sourcing finance for essential office equipment.
DIRECT APPEAL
The group is therefore making a direct appeal to local businesses to help raise necessary funds. Any form of donation would be gratefully accepted to the above address, or initial contact can be made by email on omaghvictims@hotmail.com
An example of the groups' activities was a recent weekend residential which was organised for 15 young people who were affected by the Omagh bomb.
It was a tremendous success which helped the young people build friendships, increase their understanding of others and improve their personal development.
The creation of an on-line archive is also in the pipeline, with computer training courses provided for those wishing to aid its development.
Local financial support is needed to continue this good work for the future.
