Omagh remembers those lost in the bomb
THE fifth anniversary of the Omagh bomb will be commemorated tomorrow with a Remembrance Service at the Memorial Garden at lunchtime.
Following a minute's silence at lpm there will be a service of music, readings and prayers to remember those who lost their lives and those who were injured and bereaved on 15 August 1998.
Participating in the service will be Rev Louise Crawford and Rev William Seale from St Columba's Church of Ireland, Mgr Joseph Donnelly from Sacred Heart Church, Rev Philip Corrigan from Fintona Methodist Church, Rev John Murdoch from First Omagh Presbyterian Church and Rev Brendan McCarthy from Omagh Community Church.
Representatives of those who suffered on the day as well as representatives of the various traditions in the town will also have a role in the service which should last about 30 minutes. Following the prayers and readings a wreath will be laid in the Memorial Garden on behalf of the people of Omagh.
On Sunday evening, former Irish President, Mary Robinson will deliver a lecture in Omagh Leisure Centre.
Entitled 'Learning to Heal Together - lessons from Omagh to the world and from the world to Omagh' will examine the positive aspects which have emerged from the bomb attack of five years ago.
