HUSBAND AND WIFE WENT IN TO SEPERATE SHOPS
Husband and wife had gone into separate shops
MOTHER of four, Philomena Skelton had left her McCrea Park home in Drumquin to go into Omagh to buy uniforms for her children when the bomb exploded, the inquest heard.
Her husband Kevin Skelton told the hearing on Tuesday that he had just left his wife as she went into Kells shop and he went into a shop next door. "Within 30 seconds there was a loud bang and the front of the shop came in round me".
He said he went out and found Philomena lying facing down just inside the door. He said he had escaped with just scratches to his forehead.
Dr Derek Carson told the Inquest that he carried out a post mortem on 39 year old Philomena Skelton on Sunday after the bomb.
He said his findings were that she died of multiple injuries caused by the explosion.
He said she was near the seat of the explosion and her death would have been very rapid.
Coroner, John Leckey extended his condolences to the Skelton family. "What happened was a terrible thing and it will take a long time for you and your family to get over the loss you have suffered" he said.
