Police did their best' - Mother
AT a press conference which followed, several relatives of those who had died supported Mr Baxter's defence of his officers on duty on the afternoon of August 15th.
Marion Radford who lost her son Alan said 'I was in the town that day and I was satisfied from the beginning that the police did their best.
"The only people to blame are the people who planted the bomb that day," she said
Stanley McCombe who wife, Ann died said he though everyone appreciated what Mr Baxter had to say. He said there was a perception that the finger of blame was being pointed at the RUC but Superintendent Baxter, who clearly was upset, had stated the only people responsible were the bombers themselves. He fully supported the high ranking officer's comments.
