DOUBLE BOOST FOR OMAGH FUND

GAA presents �750,000
Soccer giants to play at St Julian's Road
THE OMAGH FUND received a major boost this week, following two sporting announcements - one marking the culmination of nearly nine months of fundraising activities by the GAA, and the other to give notice of the impending arrival of a collection of soccer superstars.
On Tuesday afternoon Joe McDonagh, president of the Gaelic Athletic Association, visited St. Enda's GAC at Healy Park, to hand over a cheque for �750,000 to the fund's trustees.
And later that evening Omagh Town Football Club revealed details of a series of glamour pre-season friendlies involving three of the top English Premiership sides.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool will all bring full squads to Town's St.Julian's Road ground to play against select teams, with the proceeds raised going to the Fund. Orders for tickets can be made from today (Thurs) in writing to Town's social club .at Sedan Avenue.
Meanwhile the extraordinary cash donation by the GAA, the second largest single contribution to date, second only to that made by RTE television and radio, means that the Omagh Fund currently stands at �4.2 million.
Representatives of the Fund, who attended both announcements, thanked the respective sporting organisations for their generosity and unstinting efforts to raise proceeds for the victims of last August's atrocity.
