Royal visitor meets bomb victims
PRINCE Charles was in Omagh yesterday to meet with bereaved families and some of those injured in last August's Market Street
bombing, as well as civic leaders and members of the business community.
During the afternoon visit he called at the offices Omagh District Council where he was introduced to Michael Duffy, Senior Social Worker, who in turn introduced a number of bereaved families and young people injured in the Omagh bomb.
The Prince spent some time chatting to the group who were aware that he had visited Omagh in the immediate aftermath of the bomb.
Welcoming the Prince to Omagh, the Duke of Abercorn, who is also the Lord Lieutenant for Tyrone, presented a number of local people including Angela Colhoun, Sheriff, Councillor Allan Rainey, Vice-Chairman of Omagh District Council, Clerk of the Council, John McKinney, and Adam Ingram, Minister of State for Northern Ireland.
In the Council Chamber, the Duke of Abercorn introduced John Heaslip, Chief Executive of Business in the community, Sadie Bergin, Development Manager of Business Education Partnership, and Professor Ken O'Neill, Chairman of Young Enterprise.
Six pupils from the Omagh County Primary School's Junior Achievement Programme greeted the Prince with their adviser, Justin O'Doherty. A group of pupils from the Loreto Grammar, likewise participants in the Young Enterprise Programme, also spoke to the Prince.
In an adjoining room, he met with a small number of invited guests representing the Omagh Fund, before moving back to the Council Chamber where he was shown proposals for the redevelopment of the town.
