Moving tribute paid by Galway visitors
A GROUP of Galway people, who gave a day to Omagh, returned to the town this week for a special vigil at the Market Street bomb site.
After the 'Give A Day to Omagh' campaign, fifty senior citizens from the town were invited to Galway for a four day break where they were presented with flowers and candles at a service in Renmore.
The group was accompanied to Galway by organiser, Mickey Kelly, and Rev Derek Quinn, of Cappagh.
The Omagh group which included representatives from the British Legion, CKS, Hospital Road and Strathroy, were accompanied on their return trip on Monday by a number of people from Galway.
On Monday evening the cross-border group visited the bomb site where the flowers were laid and the candles lit by Rev Derek Quinn and Fr Kevin Mullan.
Chairman of the Council, Sean Clarke and Councillor Paddy McGowan attended the vigil.
Cheques totalling �2,450 were also presented to the Omagh Fund. The money was raised at various functions in Galway.
