BOMB VIDEO NOT TO BE RELEASED SAY POLICE
Bomb video not to be released
A SECOND amateur video taken in the immediate aftermath of the Omagh bombing will not be released, the RUC has said.
A police spokesperson told the 'Herald' this week that the decision was taken to allow people more time to get over the atrocity.
"With the interests of the people of Omagh in mind, not just the injured and bereaved, we will no be releasing this video.
"People need more time and distance to recover from this trauma and we don't believe it would help in the process if it was to be screened" a
spokesperson said.
The announcement came after it emerged last week that the RUC were in possession of further amateur footage recorded shortly after the bombing.
One video, taken minutes after the 3001b car bomb exploded in Market Street last August has already been made public.
The second recording lasting less than ten minutes, was taken from a different angle and thought to be similar in content to the first tape.
Both videos have been examined by detectives investigating the atrocity.
