Southern bikers organise event for Omagh
Motorcycle cavalcade arrived in Omagh
HUNDREDS of motorcyclists from throughout the country travelled to Omagh on Sunday afternoon to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in the August 15th atrocity,
Members of the group laid wreaths close to where 29 people died seven weeks
previously, and a �7,000 sponsorship cheque was presented to the Memorial Fund.
The venture was organized by bikers from both North and South.
On their arrival in the town, the group was met by Council Chairman, Sean Clarke and Vice-Chairman Allan Rainey, both of whom extended thanks to those who took part.
Wreaths were laid by Kildare man, Malachy Egan, on behalf of those who travelled from the Dublin area, and also by local organiser, Cyril Walker.
Afterwards, police motorcyclists escorted the group to St Mary's Hall in Killyclogher where refreshments were provided.
Sharon Gormley, representing Dublin firm Williams Transport, presented the council chairman with an E-mail book of condolences containing over 23,000 signatures.
The parents of bomb victim, Lorraine Wilson, and representatives of Geraldine Breslin's family were also present to welcome those who took part.
Organisers this week extended a 'thank you' to everyone who participated in the event, and also expressed their gratitude to everyone who helped with the organising and turned out to show their support.
Bikers from the local area are currently in the process of forming a motorcycle club and anyone interested in joining is asked to contact Cyril Walker at Omagh 245712.
