STAR-STUDDED LINE UP WILL BOOST FUND

STAR-STUDDED LINE-UP WILL BOOST FUND

Omagh's singers combine their musical talent
A STAR-STUDDED lineup of home-grown musical talent will come together later this month in a bid to boost the Omagh Memorial Fund.
On-the theme of 'Omagh Together Again Let the Healing Begin,' the all star show brings together the creme de la creme of local talent.
The event - which takes place in the town's Royal Arms Hotel - promises not only to benefit the fund financially, but also hopes to help restore the community spirit the town enjoyed prior to the tragedy.
Artistes who have pledged their support include Brian Coll, Dominic Kirwan, Frank Chisum and Rock Stewart.
They will be joined by the likes of Speedy Hamilton, Tom Sweeney and 'Queen of Country' Philomena Begley.
Singer songwriter Juliet Turner will also make a special contribution, as will bluegrass heroes Knotty Pine.
Adding muscle to the, line-up will be the powerful sounds of St Eugene's Brass Band and Eden Pine Band.
Compere for the evening will be Highland Radio favourite, Pio McCann. Organiser, Dai Waterson explained the dual purpose of the concert was to boost the fund, while at the same time extending the hand of friendship across the local community.
The hotel proprietor told the 'Herald', the idea, which had originated among a few artistes, had snowballed as more and more performers
offered their services free of charge.
"The whole thing so far has been a combined effort, and what began with three or four artistes, just grew and grew.
"So far, everyone I've spoken to has been delighted to get on board.
"Naturally, the raising of money is important to the venture, but the theme of getting the community back together again and restoring the friendly town we all knew, is also very important" added Mr Waterson.
The concert itself will take place on Tuesday, 27th October, with proceedings getting underway promptly at 8pm.
