TRUST FUND

Trust Fund

The official setting up of the Omagh Fund was a positive move towards trying to alleviate some of the immediate difficulties faced by those most deeply affected by the August 15th bomb.
Those charged with administering it will be faced with an arduous and probably thankless task, but their first priority must be to proceed with all haste towards making emergency funds available to those who need them now.
The proposal that an ad hoc committee be set up of those bereaved and injured to give guidance to the fund in its difficult deliberations certainly, has merit and is worthy of support.
The fact that such a committee has been welcomed by the Fund is also an encouraging development. No-one would suggest for a moment that monetary compensation can ever hope to alleviate the terrible suffering endured by so many. There remains however the need for an immediate response to be forthcoming to offer whatever practical help is necessary to ensure that those who have already had to bear so much, can at least be assured that whatever financial support they need at this time will be available to them.
