COMMITTEE PRAISE STERLING WORK

Committee praise sterling work

THE Omagh Police and Liaison Committee has unanimously condemned the Omagh town bomb atrocity.
The normal agenda of the Committee's meeting was set aside and the time was dedicated to reflecting on the aftermath of the tragedy.
The committee extended its heartfelt thanks to those bereaved and injured as a result of the atrocity.
Community members thanked Superintendent James Baxter and the RUC for their outstanding work, and the caring manner in which they carried out their duties at this difficult time.
The Committee also paid tribute to the sterling wok of those who assisted at the scene the Fire Service, ambulance staff, hospital staff, military and members of the public.
It also commended those who helped at the Leisure Centre, its staff, the clergy, councillors and the public,
The Chairman praised the whole community for their support and assistance during the past month.
There was unanimous agreement that the tragedy had strengthened the good community spirit already prevailing in Omagh and that the community united in its grief was fundamental to the healing process.
It was recognised again that those affected by this horrific tragedy would need the support of the whole community and that everyone could provide a much needed "listening ear."
