Community dance in Irvinestown in Aid of bomb victims
THE PEOPLE of Irvinestown have organised a community dance in Mahon's Hotel to raise funds for the Omagh bomb victims fund.
Two local housewives, Dawn Farrell and Angela McGowan are behind the fundraising initiative. The duo felt that a fundraiser could be one of the few ways to express the heartfelt sympathy generated right across Northern Ireland.
To date and with the assistance of local businesses the girls have attracted quite a line up of performing artistes and prizes to give away on the night. Billed bands and personalities include James Peake, Blind Date star, Bernard McHugh, Oakridge and Thomas Gillespie from 'Stars in your Eyes'.
Dawn and Angela said that the local business community have also been very generous in their commitment to this cross-community fundraiser, with examples such as the Brian McEniff Hotel Group offering a weekend break in any one of their luxurious hotels and Mollan Brothers, who have offered several items of quality items of home furnishings with many other wonderful prizes on offer.
The dance will take place on Thursday, 1st October in the Delaney Suite (supported by Mahon's Hotel) and tickets cost £5 for adults and £2.50 for senior citizens. A representative from Omagh District Council will be there on the night to collect the proceeds. Tickets can be obtained from local shops and business or phone 013656 21977 for further details.
