Omagh fund trustees appointed

THE five Trustees, who are to be entrusted with the administration of the Omagh Fund, were announced yesterday afternoon.
The Fund, which is continuing to swell and is expected to top £2m, is being continually boosted by fundraising events held on both sides of the border and in the UK.
The Trustees, who are drawn from both sides of the border, were invited by Omagh District Council, to undertake this responsibility and include
Sean O'Dwyer, JP, OBE, who retired as Deputy Chairman of Desmond and Sons Ltd. in 1996, and who currently holds a number of non-executive directorships. He was Pro Chancellor of the University of Ulster and served as Treasurer of the Claudy Appeal His Grace, the Duke of Abercorn, a well known public figure, both in the locality and in the wider community.
Dr Clifford McCord, MBE, who retired as a GP having served the communities of Aughnacloy and Ballygawley for forty years. He previously served on the Medical Advisory Committee of the Southern Health and Social Services Board and on the Medical Referee Service of the DHSS. He has been an active member of several local Welfare Committees.
Joy McCormick (Co Donegal) is Secretary and founder member of Inishowen Women's Network. She was instrumental in establishing the Citizens Advice Bureau in Derry and is currently a member of the Department of Equality and Law Reform Monitoring Committee in Dublin.
Dr Aideen McGinley, is currently Chief Executive of Fermanagh District Council and chair of the NI Millennium Committee.
She was a founding NI and UK member of the National Lottery Charities Board and a former Chair of the BBC NI Appeals Advisory Committee.
The Trustees are holding a press conference next Tuesday (29th September) at 11 am, when full details of the Fund will be released.
