LETTER CLARIFICATION

Letter clarification

In my letter published in the Ulster Herald on 21st February regarding the Police Board, the second last paragraph should have read as follow: "we may never know with certainty whether the Omagh bomb could have been prevented or not but what we do know is that the Special Branch withheld information that may have averted it. How many times in the past 30 years have the security forces prevented such attacks with the benefit of less intelligence? I would suggest hundreds."
The last week has witnessed another ground breaking decision by the police board. They have asked Ronnie - the lame duck - Flanaghan (Alex Atwoods terminology) to limp on for another month. I suppose one lame duck deserves another.
