Agent's credibilty seen as one key to Omagh impasse
THE credibility of informant, known as 'Kevin Fulton' who warned the RUC that Omagh was to be attacked two days before the carnival day bombing has been targeted since the publication of the Ombudsman's Report in December. Police sources, who formerly had graded him as a reliable source, now claim that he is a 'Walter Mitty like' character.
It is understood that Police Ombudsman Nuala O'Loan rejected the view that Fulton is a 'Walter Mitty' character during her meeting with the Policing Board on Tuesday.
Attacks on the credibility of 'Fulton' intensified after a question mark was placed over the role of the Chief Constable in the Ombudsman's report.
