BELIEVES BOMB COULD NOT HAVE BEEN PREVENTED
Believes bomb could not have been prevented
WHEN the Omagh bomb exploded in August 1998 Omagh woman Mary Ellis received serious injuries to her body.
She was present at the Silverbirch Hotel on Wednesday to hear Nuala O'Loan present her report on the bomb.
Despite the findings of the Ombudsman's report she still felt the police on the day did everything possible and could find no fault with them. "Those policemen were devastated by what they saw and they had to do some terrible things to help the injured," she said.
Speaking after she emerged from the three hour meeting with the Ombudsman's team, she said she did not believe the bomb could have been prevented.
She said she was hopeful that the report would lead to some justice being brought against those who carried out the bombing.
