A PATIENT in ward 6 surgical, one of the wards under threat from the Hayes report, Sammy Armstrong who has had four major operations in the past four weeks said he would rather be in the county than the royal in Belfast.
How can Omagh give up it's hospital he asked. After the bomb hundreds of people were treated here. Time did not mean anything, the staff came and gave their time freely.
He said that in a recent conversation with a trainee nurse who was spending the last six weeks of her training in the county, she told him that it was one of the cleanest hospitals she'd ever seen.
She'd done most of her training in big hospitals she couldn't believe the cleanliness of this hospital. you wouldn't get as good in London.
He concluded I would say to the Minster why should Omagh be penalised again?
