Plastic surgery plea from Omagh bomb mole who sparked probe
THE informant who provided police with information about a likely attack on Omagh in the weeks prior to the Omagh bomb has pleaded with his security force handlers to be given plastic surgery to disguise his identity.
Peter Kiely, the agent who has identified himself as "Kevin Fulton," believes that his life is in considerable peril now that his real identity is known.
It was his information which triggered the Police Ombudsman's investigation into the RUC handling of the Omagh bombing and its subsequent investigation.
Kiley's appeal for a new physical appearance comes months after another MI5 Agent William Stobie, a one time loyalist assassin, was murdered by former colleagues. In the immediate aftermath of the Stobie murder, it was claimed that as many people in security circles as in loyalist paramilitary circles were happy that he was "silenced".
Kiely has recently been the focus of a major piece of discreditation by the British government and his (former) handlers at MI5 and Special Branch. Nevertheless, it is believed that he approached the security forces through a lawyer demanding relocation for himself and his wife, and plastic surgery to change his own physical appearance.
A source close to the informant claims that the security forces effectively dumped him following the signing of the Good Friday Agreement. Nevertheless, he was passing information to Special Branch up to and following the bombing of Omagh.
Although, Fulton's true identity is widely know, a newspaper based in Dublin recently became the first to reveal his true name sending the former IRA man into a panic.
Subsequently, a major UK based Sunday newspaper dedicated a number of pages to attacking the credibility of 'Fulton'.
