LISBON LIONS TO ATTEND OMAGH DINNER
Lisbon Lions to attend Omagh Dinner
A GALA DINNER to be held on Friday 8th January 1999 by Glasgow Celtic Supporters' Club (Omagh District), will raise money for the Omagh Appeal Fund. The club draws members from all the areas affected by the tragedy of the 15th August and felt that they must make some contribution.
The dinner will be held in the Royal Arms Hotel and the main guest will be Billy HcNeill, the legendary captain of the Lisbon Lions, He will be accompanied by other members of that famous team and by present day representatives of Celtic F.C. The night will also provide the opportunity for local Celtic fans to get together but it is also expected that many from various parts of Ireland will also be there.
Music will be provided by Jerry group McArthur Park, who have strong Celtic links and M.C. will be Des Fahy of UTV fame, a member of the Omagh Club and a season ticket holder at Celtic Park. A souvenir programme is being produced for the night and it is through this that the bulk of the money should be realised. Advertising and greetings space will be available in it and every registered Celtic Supporters'Club world wide is being contacted. Auctions will take place on the night and among the items already to hand are a Celtic jersey autographed by the 1967 European Cup winning team. A Celtic jersey autographed by the present squad, the jersey worn by Aidan Lynch in this year's Ulster minor final autographed by the team who went on to win the All-Ireland minor title and an Offaly Hurling jersey autographed by the players on the successful All-Ireland hurling team. Tickets for the dinner will be limited to 250-300 and are priced at �15 each. These are now obtainable by contacting Eamon McGale (245109) or Shane Fox (0836 768291). They will also be available at a members' meeting of the Supporters' Club in Bogans Bar on Friday 4th December.
We would also be interested in hearing from prospective sponsors or those wishing to take out advertising space in the souvenir programme.
