TOP CLASS PROGRAMME FOR OMAGH MEMORIAL FUND TOURNEY
The biggest boxing tournament in the history of the sport in Omagh, will take place next Wednesday night at Omagh Leisure Centre, when celebrities of the boxing world will attend a tournament organised by th Omagh Boys and Girls Club, on behalf of the Omagh Memorial Fund.
Professional stars who have already given a firm commitment to attend are the former World Super-Middleweight Champion, Ireland's Steve Collins, and former World Heavyweight Champion, Frank Bruno.
A host of former World, European, Commonwealth and British Champions from Northern Ireland, names familiar to most boxing fans over the generations, are also poised to make their appearance.
Frank Maloney, manager of Lennox Lewis, who himself may yet attend, has indicated he will make the journey from London to auction some boxing memorabilia which he will bring over.
Almost daily, the big promoters and trainers are throwing their weight behind this major show, which gives the sport of boxing an opportunity to demonstrate its caring side, and how it has magnificently responded. For example, over the weekend Naseem Hamed's trainer, Brendan Ingle, expressed his keeness to make an appearance, and hopes the Prince himself can be there if he has returned from holiday on time.
It is heartening to see so many legends of the ring come together to pay tribute to the courage of those so deeply affected by Omagh's recent tragedy. With just over a week to the show, tickets are in great demand, with interest expressed from all over the country.

The programme, guaranteed to provide spectacular entertainment for all boxing afficiandos, is packed with the best of Omagh's local talent against a Rest of Ulster team, which includes on this occasion special guest boxers from Nottingham, Leitrim and Sligo.
