Warm Irish welcome for bomb victims
FIFTY local people, who were affected by the bombing of Omagh on August 15th, were the guests of honour of Dublin's North Inner City Business Association. Following the tragedy, the Dublin Association felt it wanted to do something for the victims, and information
regarding a two-day stay was circulated via the Emergency Co-ordination Centre.
The guests stayed in Dublin for two days at a number of the top hotels including; the Castle Hotel, the Belvedere, Parnell West, Waltons, Copper Beech Hotel, and the St. George Hotel.
Additionally, several top eating houses provided cuisine during the visit, and restaurants such as Chapter One, Nino's Tasty Options and Flannigan's all offered their services.
On the entertainment front, places were provided at cinemas, the Wax Museum, Parnell Square, and additional facilities were made available by Dublin Tourism Enterprises.
The outing, which was organised locally by Cllr Pat McDonnell and Gerry O'Doherty, had a reception with the Lord Mayor and a tour of Dail Eireann was arranged by Senator Donnie Cassidy.
