AWARD-WINNING MUSIC SHOW WILL HELP OMAGH FUND
Award-winning music show will help Omagh Fund
CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED musical group, Barry Walker's Smackee, is to appear at the St. Patrick's Hall, Strabane, on Tuesday night.
The entertainers will present their UK award-winning show, featuring music from the West End and Broadway, with all proceeds going to the victims of the Omagh bombing.
An organiser said it was hoped there would be specific help for local people who had suffered.
The show group was formed by lead singer and keyboard player, Barry Walker, in the early 1980s, and first came to public prominence when it appeared on the television series, 'Search for a Star'.
Further television and radio appearances followed, culminating in a guest support slot for the group on the last nationwide tour by singing star, Cilia Black
Since then, the group has built up an enormous army of fans, both in the UK and in Europe, where they tour annually.
"The talent and versatility of the group is clearly visible, when presenting all that is best from London's West End, whilst performing excerpts from such classics as Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Evita, Joseph and Grease," said a spokesman for the performers,
"Added to all this glamour and sparkle are stunning and elaborate costume changes, seen to good effect when the group also presents its own musical tribute to ABBA, with the two glamorous and talented females who front the group. Dawn and Margaret, well to the fore," he said.
Tickets for the gala performance are available fiom 'Sounds Good', Strabane, St Patrick's Hall, Strabane, and 'R. Kirk Menswear', Strabane.
