Special treat for Omagh bomb victims at Waterfront peace gala
THOSE affected by last year's bomb attack in Omagh have been invited to a unique peace celebration due to take place in the Waterfront Hall in Belfast next week.
The third Gala Celebration of Christmas which will be held next Tuesday and Wednesday, features many prominent performers from the US who have been involved in a wide range of peace and religious work.
Appearing on the bill will be Huntley Brown (piano), Don Shire (trumpet) and Neville York (steel drums). Also included are Maire Brennan of Clannad, the combined choirs of Drumcree and Portadown Colleges and the Co Sligo Golf Club Male Voice Choir.
Guest speaker will be Rev L J Ogilvie, chaplain to the US Senate.
Michael Gallagher, Chairman of the the Omagh Victims' Support Group this week said special concession had been made for those bereaved and injured as a result of the bombing.
"Organisers of this event have been in touch with the Victims Group and have offered anyone affected by the tragedy free tickets to the event.
"I think this is a very generous offer and those behind the peace gala say they would be delighted to see representation from Omagh" added Mr Gallagher.
In order to compile numbers attending the gala, organisers have asked anyone wishing to travel to get in touch with Teresa at the Trauma Centre, telephone 01662-252599.
Performances will take place on Tuesday (7 Dec) at 7.30pm and Wednesday (8 Dec) at 3pm and 7.30pm.
