Kieran's vision of Omagh on postcard

COPIES of an award-winning Christmas card, depicting a young Omagh student's vision of his hometown in the wake of last August's bombing, have now gone on sale locally.
The beautifully illustrated card, which was designed by Heatherbank Special School pupil, Kieran McEnhill, portrays his own personal image of how he sees the town's future developing.
In December of last year, the Western Education and Library Board organised a competition for students to design a Christmas card based on the theme 'Light out of Darkness.'
Kieran's entry contained a striking drawing of Omagh, replacing the town's familiar church spires with three candles, illustrating his belief that eventually the light of hope must overcome the darkness.
Since then, the young student has received numerous requests for copies of the print to frame or send to friends.
This week, Heatherbank principal, Hugh McAteer praised the pupil's efforts which, he said, illustrated Kieran's flair for art.
"The card is a very evocative and atmospheric work which is symbolic of the light of hope in the midst of darkness and sadness.
"It portrays a young person's vision of a bright future for his hometown and the beautifully drawn piece illustrates Kieran's artistic and creative gifts.
"I think it would make a lovely gift to send to family and friends who have left Omagh and I wish Kieran well in his venture" he added.
Copies of the print, which are produced on quality art paper, are available in local shops, priced at £3 each.
