CD PROCEEDS PROVIDE EQUIPMENT FOR OCCUPATIONAL DEPARTMENT
CD proceeds provide equipment for Occupational Therapy Department
A NUMBER of parents and pupils from a County Louth school, who launched a fund-raising CD for the people of Omagh in the aftermath of the Market Street bombing, visited the town yesterday (Wed), to see the proceeds presented to a local cause.
Local bomb victim, Donna Marie McGilliom and husband Gary, made the acquaintance of parents, friends and the children of Ballapousta National School in Ardee, County Louth, when earlier this year the Ballapousta Variety Group invited them to the launch of its fund-raising 8-track CD entitled "Lets Sing Our Song"
The Variety Group were motivated to initiate the project in light of the events of August 15, 1998.
Among the tracks included on the compilation was 'A Day We Won't Forget' which was sung by Padraig Lynch and dedicated to those who died in the Omagh blast.
Yesterday Padraig, together with another parents representative, John Rigney and a number of students at the school were present at the Tyrone County Hospital where Donna Marie and Garry, on their behalf, presented the Occupational Therapy Unit with photographic equipment, which had been purchased with the proceeds raised through the CD sales. The video camera, tripod, monitor and stand will be used to monitor the progress of patients in the OT department at the hospital.
The Ballapousta School itself was touched by tragedy earlier this year when a number of its pupils wre killed in a boating accident off the Irish coast.
