SPIRIT OF RECONCILIATION HAS NOT YET REACHED POLITICIANS - BYRNE

Spirit of reconciliation has not yet reached politicians - Byrne

THE SDLP's Joe Byrne has said the first anniversary of the Omagh atrocity should serve as a reminder to the political parties of the urgent need to implement the Good Friday Agreement.
The West Tyrone assembly man said the Real IRA bombing of Omagh on August 15th of last year demonstrated that peace cannot be taken for granted.
He said there can be no more ambivalence towards the use of political violence and the best way permanent peace can be secured is for all the main parties to live up to their obligations and commit themselves to the full implementation of the Agreement.
"There are loyalist and republican dissidents who are determined to undermine the democratically expressed will of the people of this island for inclusive partnership government representing both sides of our community," he said.
