LETTER FROM TONY BLAIR

It is, I am sure, with heavy hearts that your community faces the forthcoming weekend, when all will remember the horror of the appalling atrocity on 15 August last year.
The consequences of that day are, I know, impossible to define in human terms. I would like to convey my support at this very difficult time, to all of those affected by the terrible events of that day, and to pay tribute to the strength and courage they have shown in facing the future with the great dignity that we have all witnessed.
I would like to acknowledge, too, all those who have taken part in the colossal effort of relief and support in response to the tragedy. I know that their tremendous work has been deeply appreciated.
The whole community in Northern Ireland, and indeed, across the world, has felt moved to reach out to those affected by the bombing in Omagh. The pain for many is as yet undiminished, but I assure them that their suffering will not be forgotten.
I wish for the community in Omagh and beyond, the strength and courage to continue with their already remarkable efforts to rebuild their lives and their community.
Prime Minister
Tony Blair
