LETTER FROM MARY McALEESE

One year on from the terrible horror and destruction wreaked by the Omagh bomb, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those who suffered and continue to suffer from that awful event. An anniversary of this kind, especially the first anniversary, is a time of great loneliness and pain for all those families and for the entire community.
But the enduring legacy of the Omagh tragedy is of the great courage and determination of its people to reject the violence and hatred of the past and to unite and build a decent and peaceful future for their children. That is their message. On this anniversary, we renew our resolve to assist them in making it a reality.
President of Ireland
MARY McALEESE
