HEARTS AND MINDS ARE WITH YOU NOW

Hearts and minds are with you now

DEAR SIR - I feel I simply must write this letter to all the people in Omagh and the neighbouring towns to tell them how much they are in the hearts and minds of everyone in the U.S.A.
I was on my holidays when the TV announced the bombing in Omagh, I could not believe this was happening in the town where I was born. I got to a phone as quickly as I could and called my mother but couldn't get through. I finally reached my sister's number to make sure all my family were accounted for.
Today I received the "Ulster Herald" dated Thursday August 20th and I couldn't believe the Front Page Photographs of all those men, women and innocent little children all dead from this nightmare.
Everyone here was shocked and saddened beyond words by this tragic news of the bombing. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families who lost loved ones and also for the injured. With deepest sympathy to all of Omagh in your great loss. You will always have a special place in my heart.
I will end with a few lines from a favourite song -

It's light and airy
I've tramped thro' Derry
and to Portaferry in the County Down,
But with all my raking and undertaking
My heart was aching For Sweet Omagh Town.

Yours,
SHEILA CLARK
(nee Taggart), Boston, U.S.A.
