A TIME TO REBUILD
A time to rebuild
For the decent people, Catholic and Protestant, the difficult task of rebuilding the town of Omagh and rebuilding the community must continue. As a society we have received the sympathies of great nations and the support of great statesmen and that is vital; but ultimately, the task of restoring Omagh's spirit will fall to the people of the district.
Decisions, however painful, must be taken, and the work of physically rebuilding the town must get underway.
To ensure the speedy restoration of the commercial life of the town, those agencies charged with providing the funding, advice and expertise, must ensure that the business community of Omagh is given priority. Common sense practices should prevail over bureaucracy, and the resources of both Britain and Ireland should be put at the disposal of those charged with the rebuilding of the town.
It is only when the aspect of the town is restored that the spirit of Omagh can begin to rise from the rubble.
