BOMBERS MADE GETAWAY ON FOOT
Bombers made getaway on foot
THE RUC have praised the response of the Omagh people in coming forward with information following the carnival day bomb.
In the statement issued this week police say they now believe that those responsible for the outrage may have made their getaway on foot.
A number of bomb warnings claimed that the car had been abandoned in the vicinity of the Court House, the device was in fact, near the bottom of Market Street, the area into which the shoppers had been evacuated.
During Saturday's reconstruction, police officers spoke to shop owners about the car's movements before it was abandoned. It is now thought that the bombers made their way along Campsie or into Dunnes Store car park where another car may have been waiting.
Speaking following the reconstruction Superintendent, James Baxter, praised the reaction of the public to Saturday's operation; "We are sure that people somewhere can give us vital clues", he said.
Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries in respect of the bombing, are asked to contact the incident room in Omagh at 01662-244159.
