DUP delegation met PM
PRIME MINISTER, Tony Blair, has been approached on providing important and practical help to the people of Omagh after meeting with a DUP delegation.
West Tyrone assemblyman, Oliver Gibson, said he had taken the Omagh tragedy to the highest level through his leadership, Dr Ian Paisley and Peter Robinson, MP.
The DUP leadership met with the Prime Minister on Tuesday last at Stormont House.
A number of points were raised with the PM on behalf of Oliver Gibson for the town and district of Omagh.
These included the enhancing and development of the Tyrone County Hospital, and special funding for Omagh's rebuilding and redevelopment.
Other points raised included the special areas of millennium funding and targeting social and environmental needs, funding for the Omagh through-pass and site development and the problems with the farming industry, in particular the plight of the pig farmers.
The assemblyman said the leadership was pleased to have had the opportunity to raise at the highest level the concerns of Omagh and relay to the Prime Minister the great sense of loss and grief that the whole area feels.
