OMAGH FORUM FOR RURAL ASSOCIATIONS AND OMAGH WOMEN'S AREA NETWORK CONDEMN BOMB OUTRAGE
THE Omagh Forum, and Omagh Women's Area Network which represents rural and women's community groups in Omagh District, join the Omagh town community network FOCUS, in condemning the bomb outrage which took place in Omagh last Saturday.
The community member organisations and the committees of Omagh Forum and OWAN are totally shocked and numbed by this insane and random attack on ordinary people from the Omagh area and the young visitors who had come to join in a community-led carnival of celebration in the town. The awfulness of the outrage on so many women, young people and children is beyond comprehension and expression. We have been most affected in recent days by the heartbreaking eloquence, dignity and courage of our people in Omagh which has itself given hope to the rest of us.
We extend our condolences and support to all families who have suffered bereavement caused by this outrage, and also extend our sympathy and support to those families and individuals who are still fighting for their lives, and those who have suffered some of the most awful injuries imaginable.
When the media cameras are turned off and the commentators have left, we, the people of Omagh, will be left to pick up the pieces and get on with our lives. This will be a most difficult time and a time when our communities must come together and reach out to those who have suffered. The Omagh Forum and OWAN, in association with other Northern Ireland wide community support organisations offer their resources to local communities, the local authority, and statutory bodies in their efforts to assist people recover the threads of normal life again.
