PRESIDENT WILL BE TREATED LIKE ANY PATIENT SHOULD THE NEED ARISE
IN the unlikely event of President Clinton requiring medical treatment during his visit to Omagh, the most powerful man in the world will be "treated as any other casualty" at Tyrone County Hospital.
A spokesperson for Sperrin Lakeland Trust told the 'Herald' this week that staff at the hospital's Accident and Emergency department would be "working as normal" during today's Presidential visit.
Many of those on duty had been involved in the massive task of tending to over 200 people seriously injured in the bombing.
And following the attack, staff at the 'County' were praised for the manner in which they dealt with the situation.
The Trust's spokesperson said personnel from the American Embassy visited the hospital earlier this week and gave the 'thumbs-up' to facilities there.
"Representatives surveyed the Accident and Emergency department on Monday and talked to medical and clinical staff.
"We will have our normal staff on duty at the hospital on Thursday and Mr Clinton will be treated as any other patient entering A&E.
"The President's own physician will obviously be travelling with him, but any treatment will be given by the hospital's own staff" she added.
