Tummery singer-song writer, Juliet Turner, whose performance at the Omagh memorial service moved people throughout the world, has ruled out releasing the song as a single. According to her manager, Derek Nally, Juliet does not want to exploit the tragedy which left twenty-eight people dead and two hundred and twenty injured. B.B.C. News Online said it had received requests from around the world asking if there were plans for a single of "Broken Things" to be released as a tribute to the victims of the bombing. He manager said: "she sang that song at a certain moment in time. It is something she feels very strongly about, that she doesn't want to be seen to use the song out of a very tragic situation." Incidentally, the song was written and originally performed by American Julie Miller.

The usual quota of dedicated traditional music fans from this locality who travelled to Ballina, County Mayo, at the weekend, to attend this year's All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil, had a most enjoyable and rewarding visit to the Connacht venue.
The event attracted thousands of visitors and, as always, Tyrone was very well represented in both the spectator and competitiveroles. This was the second year in succession that Ballina hosted the event which was favoured with excellent weather conditions. There was plenty of good music on offer over the three day period and, for the Dromore visitors, it was a memorable fleadh cheoil.
The annual solemn and impressive ceremony of the Blessing of the Graves takes place this coming Sunday in St, Dympna's Cemetery at 3.00 p.m. As usual, a large attendance of parishioners is expected to attend, with numerous Dromore 'exiles returning for the ceremony We welcome them all back to Dromore for this moving ceremony. Blessing of Graves at St. Davog's Cemetery takes place at a later date.
Family and friends travelled to Dublin recently to attend the wedding of James, son of Florence & Seamus Corey, Shaneragh, Dromore, and Sharon, daughter of Timothy & Sylvia Grace, Tallaght, Dublin City. Bestmen were Thomas, brother, and Jim Mullan, friend of the groom, while the lovely bridesmaids were Rachel, sister, and Samantha Norton, friend of the bride. James Maguire, Ederney, nephew of the groom, was a most efficient pageboy, whilst Isabella Grace, the bride's niece, was a beautiful flowergirl. The bi-lingual service was conducted in Irish and English sign language by the Rev. Fr. Tom Woods, chaplain of the deaf, and interpreted by Rev. Bro. Fitzgerald, representing Cabra schools for the deaf, where the bride and groom were educated. The lovely setting for the service was St. Mary's Dominican Priory, Tallagh, and the reception was in the Ambassador Hotel, Kill, Co. Kildare. A special feature of the service was the singing choir which accompanied the soloist. James and Sharon are presently on honeymoon in Portugal, before returning to take up residence at Drumannon Rise, Omagh.
The annual tug-o-war tournament, sponsored by Dromore Action Cancer Group, takes place this Sunday, in the Old Gardrum Park (the craft), commencing at 4.00 p.m. Local organ Dan Healy, has secured services of first-class teams from Tyrone, Fermanagh and Donegal, so a great evening of highly competitive tug-o-war is assured. Winners will receive the Brendan Maguire Memorial Trophy and Dromore Action Cancer Shield. Prizes will be presented at a special entertainment in the Point Bar, Main Street, on Sunday night, with music supplied by John and Sean (Pettigo). Sunday's event is deserving of the highest support of all. Admission is only £2.00.
