Sympathy pours in for bomb victims
THE internet has been inundated with messages from all over the world expressing the global outpouring of sympathy for the people of Omagh in the aftermath of the atrocity.
An International Book of Condolences has been set up on the internet to capture world opinion. The thoughts of people from countries all over the globe are being added hourly to an ever-growing list.
Global Gateway, the company behind the initiative, have pledged to pass on all the messages to every Northern Ireland Assembly member, the British and Irish governments and the people of Omagh.
The company's statement reads: "The decision has been taken both as a mark of respect to the victims, their families and the people of Omagh, as well as to give our international audience the opportunity to register their personal messages in response to Saturday's events.
"It is our sincere wish that the power of the internet can be used in such a way over the coming days to send a huge international message of sympathy to those affected by the tragedy, as well as an overwhelming message of support for the peace process in Northern Ireland."
