COMMUNITY GROUPS CONDEMN BOMB OUTRAGE
Community Groups condemn bomb outrage
In a statement released this week, Focus, the cross-community umbrella group in Omagh, has openly condemned the actions of those perpetrators of the cowardly act.
Our hearts go out to all in the community who have in anyway been affected by this tragedy.
The people who visited Omagh on Saturday expected to find a day of enjoyment and celebration, instead they found carnage coupled with disbelief and despair.
We commend the emergency services, volunteers, and all the members of the public who collectively channelled their energies towards the rescue of the unfortunate victims of this outrage who had visited the town expecting to be entertained by the festival frolics on this carnival day.
We would urge anyone with information about the perpetrators of this dastardly deed to come forward and speak to the relevant authorities.
Community coordinators collectively made the decision at a special meeting held on Sunday evening to cancel the outing planned next Friday which would have taken 250 plus children to Portrush to join in the NICE day out.
This yearly event combines children of both communities against bigotry.
Such an event was expected to bring the hearts of the young children both Catholic and Protestant together, but in the wake of such an atrocity this constructive and progressive event had to be cancelled.
