OMAGH BOMB ACCUSED TRIAL TO BEGIN IN SEPTEMBER
Omagh bomb accused trial to begin in September
THE MAN accused of murdering 29 people in the 1998 Omagh bomb will stand trial on September 6, a High Court Judge has announced.
Sean Hoey, 36, of Molly Road, Jonesborough denies the Omagh charges and others connected to more Real IRA attacks, including one in 2001.
He faces a total of 58 terrorist charges, involving 14 separate dissident republican attacks across NI.
Mr Justice Weir said he wanted nothing to interfere with the trial's start..
He told prosecution and defence barristers on Friday: "I cannot overestimate that we should stick to the agreed timetable."
It is expected the trial will last for about six weeks.
The accused, who was not present in court for the hearing, will have been in custody for three years by the time his case comes to trial later this year.
