THERE may be a thousand miles between Madrid and Omagh.
But yesterday they were united in grief. Families who lost loved ones in Northern Ireland's worst terrorist atrocity joined in prayers for people facing similar grief in Spain.
As campaigner Michael Gallagher writes on this page, the plague of terrorism has, sadly, united us all.
He spoke of meeting in Madrid with people who have suffered at the hands of terrorists around the world.
The world over, people are dying at the hands of terrorists and the world over they all suffer the same.
But as Mr Gallagher points out, not all governments treat victims with the same respect.
In Northern Ireland, victims' voices are rarely heard while paramilitary groups are rarely out of the news.
Relatives of those murdered in the past 30 years are too often ignored.
Their voices must never be drowned out by the political expediency of the day.
