MICHAEL McKevitt is facing a lengthy jail term for running the Real IRA. The world will be a safer place without him.
He and his murderous gang have caused untold suffering.
He ordered bombings, shootings and punishment attacks like some sort of warped army general.
McKevitt has the blood of a lot of people on his hands.
Because of him the Real IRA was able to carry on its appalling war.
Yesterday relatives of the Omagh bombing took a step towards justice with the conviction of McKevitt.
They were naturally overcome with emotion outside the Special Criminal Court in Dublin.
There is no place in Irish society for the likes of McKevitt and his moronic henchmen.
Everyone, North and South, wants peace. The Real IRA want only more bloodshed.
Thankfully the Garda have done a tremendous job in smashing much of the terror network and lives have been saved.
Yesterday's result was satisfying for those seeking to make Ireland a safer place in live.
And that's what we all want, isn't it.
Let's hope the judges lock McKevitt away for good today.
