Omagh: SF face jail threat

GERRY Adams and Martin McGuinness could be jailed if they refuse to give evidence in a civil action against the Real IRA by relatives of the Omagh bomb victims.
The Sinn Fein president and the party's chief negotiator were among five alleged members of the Provisional IRA's Army Council in 1997 named in subpoenas lodged at the High Court in Belfast yesterday.
Lawyers for the families believe Mr Adams and Mr McGuinness can shed light on the split within the republican movement that led to the formation of the Real IRA in July 1997.
The dissident group admitted responsibility for the Omagh bombing in 1998 which killed 29 people and unborn twins.
Michael Gallagher, whose 21-year-old son Aidan died in the blast, said: "The news that Mr McGuinness and Mr Adams will have to tell what they know of the Real IRA has left me feeling more positive."
