Bomb victim writes letters to leaders
A TRAGIC victim of the Omagh bombing has written to Ulster leaders on the eve of crucial talks begging them to win the battle for peace.
Donna Marie McGillion wrote to Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams and Unionist leader David Trimble who today enter negotiations aimed at saving the Good Friday deal.
She told Mr Adams: "At such a crucial time, I know you will do everything in your power to secure this for the people of Northern Ireland."
She urged Mr Trimble: "I plead to you to use the power you have to ensure no one else has to go through what the people of Omagh have."
Donna Mario, 23, said yesterday: "I pray that in the next few days they will reach an agreement. We all have to do everything we can
for peace."
As she spoke, Mr Trimble and Sinn Fein chief Martin McGuinness signalled a possible compromise over the surrender of IRA arms.
The leaders have until Wednesday to hammer out their differences.
Writing in The Mirror today, Premier Tony Blair says: "The deadline is real. We have to make progress. And we need to make it quickly."
