RTE's tribute to the Omagh bomb victims tragedy was moving, upsetting but often uplifting viewing, writes Donna Carton.
There were moments throughout Friday night's special Late Late Show when presenter Gay Byrne looked overwhelmed.
And by the end of the programme, the man who has tackled many harrowing subjects down the years seemed drained.
So much so that at one point he had to leave the set to wipe away the tears clearly visible in his eyes and compose himself.
The audience was crammed with the injured, relatives of the dead, paramedics, doctors, nurses and many others who were touched by the carnage last August.
Their stories had a nation weeping in their living rooms and at times the show was almost too dreadful to watch.
On the other hand, it was a show full of hope, youth and energy, and it showed signs that some day the people of Omagh will find a light at the end of their long and dark tunnel of pain.
