Baby heartache

GRIEF-STRICKEN Paul Devine yesterday carried the small white coffin bearing the remains of his 21-month-baby daughter Breda into St Mary's Church, three miles from the family's home at Altishane, near Donemana, Co Tyrone.
Breda was killed instantly in the blast which has also left her mother Tracey, uncle Garry McGillion and his fiancee Donna-Marie Keys fighting for their lives in Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital.
The engaged couple were due to marry on Saturday. Together with Tracey, they had gone to Omagh with baby Breda to buy her shoes. The murdered infant was to have been flower girl at her uncle's wedding.
Among the hundreds of mourners were nurses from the neo-natal unit in Derry's Altnagelvin Hospital where Breda, who was born three months prematurely, had spent the first six weeks of her short life fighting to survive.
Retired Bishop of Derry, Dr Edward Daly described the atrocity as "evil of the most horrifying nature".
